Financing
Student Union
Financial aid comes in many different forms including loans, which require repayment, and scholarships, grants and employer benefits, which do not require repayment.
Loans
There are a variety of loan programs designed to help students achieve their dream of a college education. One of the most common loans used today is the Federal Stafford Loan. With a low interest rate, this loan can be used by both undergraduate and graduate students. Undergraduate students may also qualify for a Federal Perkins Loan. For further financial assistance, many banks offer private educational loan programs.
Scholarships and Grants
Grand Canyon University offers a variety of scholarships and grants to undergraduate and graduate students. You may also find scholarships through your local government, churches or community organizations.
Unlike loans, grants do not need to be repaid. The two most recognized grants are the Pell Grant and the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG). Arizona students may also qualify for additional grants including the Federal TEACH Grant (Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education) awarded to students who agree to teach in low-income schools upon graduation. There are several grants that are awarded based on financial need including the LEAP Grant, the Financial Aid Trust Grant and the University Grant.
Employer Benefits
Some individuals have tuition benefits available through their employer. Typically these benefits are offered in one of two ways: tuition reimbursement or direct bill.
With tuition reimbursement, many employers will reimburse for all or part of the tuition fees on classes or programs related to your career. Direct bill allows employers to create an account with GCU to pay tuition bills directly.
Military Benefits
There are a variety of tuition benefits available to those who have served in the Armed Forces or have spouses who have served. These benefits include the Montgomery or Post 911 GI Bill, tuition assistance (Top-Up), Tutorial Assistance and Vocational Rehabilitation. In addition, Grand Canyon University offers scholarships to active duty, guard, reserves, retirees, veterans and their spouses for undergraduate and graduate programs.
